Do you hear or do you listen?
We chase happiness in things, people, places and the future.
They say: You must work hard. You have to earn it. You gotta do it right.
I try, I work, I earn, I collect.
All these badges from society that tell about my worth.
The moment I think I got somewhere, they point into a different direction.
Leading me to my next destination, school, job, diploma, title, status, badge.
So I run faster and faster and faster.
Work harder and harder and harder.
Sweat, grind, hustle, bite my teeth into the concrete that paves my path towards that happiness they keep telling me about.
I ask myself if I do it right?
Or am I just dumb, incompetent, blind.
No matter how hard I work, it‘s not enough.
Behind every corner sits disappointment.
And even when I think I got it all figured out they somehow change the rules and say:
WORK HARDER, MORE, LONGER!
NOT ENOUGH!
NOT ENOUGH!
NOT ENOUGH!
When you hear them scream,
you cannot listen.
Listen to that silence within you.
To that place of serenity.
This inner voice from the heart that says:
Happiness is peace.
Peace is freedom.
Freedom is love.
Love is life.
Do not run.
Do not hide.
Do not fear.
Trust.
Simple answers. Few words.
No commands.
Truth.
Do you hear?
Or do you listen?
